Early primary voting to begin next week
The 2026 May Primary Election is now less than two weeks away, but eligible voters will once again have the opportunity to avoid possible lines at the voting polls by taking advantage of “early voting.”
Absentee balloting for those who qualify is underway, with the deadline to request a paper absentee having passed on Tuesday, May 5.
Those voting by absentee ballot are reminded to get their ballots into the county clerk’s office as soon as possible to be counted, as mail-in absentees have to be received no later than election day.
In person absentee voting for voters who qualify continue this Thursday and Friday, May 7 and 8 by walk-in at the Clinton County Clerk’s Office, and again next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, May 11, 12, and 13 during normal business hours.
Early voting dates for any registered voter in the county will be held next Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 14, 15, and 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Voting locations include the Welcome Center, Clinton County Fairgrounds building, and South Kentucky RECC building. Voters from any precinct in which they reside may vote at either of the three locations on those days.
Election Day will be Tuesday, May 19 — also at the aforementioned locations, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
For anyone unsure of their voter registration status, or need further information, contact the Clinton County Clerk’s Office at 606-387-5943.
Also, filing for candidacy for non-partisan races that will not appear on the ballot until November continues through June 2.
(Sample absentee ballots for the May Primary are published in this week’s, as well as next week’s, edition of the Clinton County News, and an election preview article will be published next week.)
