One man killed, one seriously injured in Saturday auto accident

The Clinton County Community learned of a tragic accident that claimed the life of a young, well-known Clinton County man and resulted in the serious injury of another.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Nicholas “Nick” Brown, 24, of Albany, Kentucky, was killed in a single vehicle accident that occurred early Saturday morning, May 2, 2026, in Tennessee, near the Clinton County – Pickett County boundary.
The driver of the vehicle, Michael Lance Madison, 24, also of Albany, Kentucky, was seriously injured in the accident and is currently being treated for head and brain trauma.
The THP report received by the Clinton County News stated that Madison was operating a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, traveling north on US 127, also referred to as North York Highway, when he attempted to negotiate a right curve.
The vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the roadway, according to the THP report, before striking an earth embankment and colliding with several trees before coming to rest.
The accident, which occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. Saturday, was in the vicinity of the Chanute Church where the highway intersects with Chanute Road, just south of the Clinton – Pickett boundary.
According to a Pickett County Dispatch report at the time of the accident, it was reported as being a “rollover” accident. The report also notes that neither Brown or Madison were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
Both Brown and Madison were 2021 Clinton County High School graduates and both were former athletes.
Arrangements for Nick Brown were incomplete and unavailable at presstime.  A full death notice for Nicholas “Nick” Brown will be published in next week’s Clinton County News.
