Fiscal court to purchase ambulance

Clinton County Fiscal Court held a special call meeting last Wednesday morning, July 10 with all court members present and two items of business on the agenda, including an executive session.

Court members first heard from Director of Emergency Management Lonnie Scott pertaining to a new ambulance the EMS was purchasing to replace a vehicle that had been wrecked in an accident back in January of this year.

The replacement vehicle will be a remount put on a new chassis at a total cost of $66,654.30. Over two-thirds of the cost, however, will be paid by insurance on the old ambulance in the amount of $45,770.53. The balance of $20,883.77 will come from the ambulance fund but Scott noted most of the latter amount was in the form of grant monies the ambulance service had on hand.

Magistrate Mickey Riddle made the motion to purchase the replacement ambulance, with the motion passing by unanimous vote.

The court then went into an approximate 20-minute closed session on the possible acquisition or sale of property–thought to be pertaining to a prospective industrial client–but took no action upon returning to open session.

The 25-minute meeting was then adjourned.

Fiscal court members have a conference to attend on Thursday, July 18, the date of its regular monthly meeting. That meeting has been cancelled and a call meeting in its place will be held later this month.
