VFW and American Legion to meet

VFW and American Legion will meet Saturday, August 10 at 1 p.m. at the Post Hall on Hopkins Street. All members are urged to attend.

Project Graduation to meet

Project Graduation will meet Monday, August 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the CCHS cafeteria. All parents are urged to attend. Officers will be elected.

School board regular meeting

Clinton County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday, August 12 at 5 p.m. at the Central Office board room. The meeting is open to the general public.

Park board special meeting

The Clinton County Rec/Park Board will hold a special call meeting Tuesday, August 13 at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Park. The meeting is open to the general public.

Family Literacy to begin classes

Clinton County Family Literacy will begin classes on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Clinton County Board of Education Annex Building located beside of Mountain View Park. The program is designed to help individuals improve their general education, or earn their GED. There will be free breakfast and lunch provided. If you are a new student, a former student or would like some additional information about the program, contact Amy Garner or Eddie Tallent at 387-6648.

New program Wellness Center geared toward youth

Tyler King and Dee Soma have started a new class at Twin Lakes Wellness Center called FAST for youth ages 8-18 years old.

FAST stands for Functional Aerobic Strength Training and will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Get your child active and fit with FAST! For athletes or anybody wanting to get in better shape, join us for body weight exercises and circuit training. Call 606-387-9622 for more information.

Local Planning Committee meeting

On behalf of the Clinton County Board of Education, the Clinton County Local Planning Committee will meet on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Central Office board room at 5 p.m. local time. The purpose of this meeting is to show the orientation video part two and to review the proposed District Facilities Plan.

Car, bike, tractor, and rat rod show

The fifth annual car, bike, tractor and rat rod show will be Saturday, August 10 at the Harvest Fellowship Church of God, 618 Bennett Hill Road in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. Besides the trophies there will be door prizes, 50/50 drawing, silent auction and food/drinks. All proceeds go to the Building and Youth Fund. The Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center is offering the following fitness classes: 

* Mondays: Lap Swimming, 5:30 a.m.; Water Aerobics, 8:30 a.m.; cycling, 3:30 p.m.; Ab Ripper, 4:30-5 p.m.; Line Dancing, 5 p.m.; Kid Fit Club 7-12 year olds, 6 p.m.; Water Aerobics, 6 p.m.

* Tuesdays: Lap Swimming, 5:30 a.m.; Pilates/Yoga, 8:30 a.m.; Ab Ripper, 4:30 p.m.; Cycling, 5 p.m.; FAST, 8-18 year olds, 5:30 p.m.; Zumba, 6:15 p.m. 

* Wednesdays: Lap Swimming, 5:30 a.m.; Water Aerobics, 8:30 a.m.; Tai Chi, 10 a.m.; Kid Fit Club, 4 p.m. 4 – 7 year olds.

Zumba classes with membership is $2.50 per class; non-members $5 per class. All other Group Fitness Classes are included in the membership.

Facility Hours: Monday – Friday 5 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Sunday – 1 – 4 p.m.

Learning to Control Diabetes

Clinton County Health Department will offer a four-week, four-step Learning to Control Diabetes program each Tuesday in September, the 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. Sessions are free but pre-registration is required by calling 387-5711, ext. 1166.

Cancellation of the

Class of 1958 reunion

The Clinton County High School Class of 1958 anniversary reunion, scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Dale Hollow Lake State Park, is cancelled because of lack of participation. Any member of the Class of 1958 who wishes to get together informally with classmates during the 2013 Foothills Festival will meet at the office of Luther C. “Hoppy” Conner, 504 N. Cross Street, Albany, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013.

AA meeting 

AA will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church. 

VA Rep available 

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month. Narcotics Anonymous 

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights at 7 p.m. at the Bright Idea Missionary Baptist Church basement in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.
