Boys and girls from the Kentucky State Police Posts in Mayfield and Madisonville were in attendance last week at Trooper Island Camp in south-west Clinton County on Dale Hollow Lake, to close out the camp’s 49th season.

During the week, members from the Albany First Baptist Church closed out a 40 year-long tradition of providing the campers, staff and KSP Troopers on hand, with a brief, non-demoninational worship service, presented by church member and C.C.H.S. Athletic Director Mike Beard, shown above.

Last week, the group was addressed by First Baptist Church members Allen Smith, shown in the photo below talking to the campers at the beginning of the service. Smith has been coordinating the service for the local church for several years, and was recently recognized by Trooper Island Director KSP Trooper Endre Samu for his efforts and contributions in putting the program together each week during the camping season.

Campers were also treated to a special guest during the service last week, when “The King” made a brief stop to entertain with a a few songs. Samu travels the region as an Elvis impersonator, entertaining groups, clubs and organizations, often donating any contributions given to him to Trooper Island Camp.
