Residents of Fountain Run spoke to City Commissioners expressing their concern and complaints over City Policeman Harold Brown’s enforcement of street laws. Toby and Junior Russell spoke to commissioners at the beginning of the regular monthly meeting on Monday, August 12.
The Russells told commissioners they wanted to complain about Brown and informed them that they planned to contact WBKO Channel 13 to “have them down here tomorrow about this,” noting that Brown “and other little fellows like that one” (indicating Commissioner Cortney Austin) had threatened to impound a four-wheeler of a school-age child.
City Mayor Steve Eaton asked the pair if they’d give him an opportunity to discuss the matter with Brown to determine what had occurred.
The group continued to complain about “all the dope pushers pushing dope” and Junior Russell added that he had lived in Fountain Run for 70 years and he’d “stand for what was right.” When City Clerk Ina Elmore directed the visitors to call the drug hotline in Tompkinsville, Junior Russell answered, “Well, T-ville is about like Fountain Run with all that stuff” and continued that “no one better cross my path, I’m not threatening nobody but I’ll do just what I say and say just what I mean.”
Commissioners stated that ATVs, or any motorized vehicle over 49 ccs, were not allowed on public roadways except under strict circumstances.
