Golf teams finish high in All ‘A’ State

The Clinton County golf teams recently played in the All “A” Classic State tournament and with the girls team, Clinton County picked up third place out of nine teams in the field of play with a 360 team score.

Samantha Stinson placed first on the team with an 86, Ansley Stalcup and Macy Campbell tied with 89 and Bree Boils finished with a 96. Rounding out scoring for Clinton County was London Honeycutt with a 112 on the round.

On the boys’ side, Kenny Stinson was the only boy to qualify in the All “A” Classic State competition. Stinson finished his round with an 18-hole round of 79. Stinson tied for 20th out of 120 individual players.

The match was played at Eagle’s Nest Country Club in Somerset.

On Tuesday, September 6, the boys’ team was in a four-way match with Clarkrange, York Institute and Pickett County, Tenn. The match was held at 76 Falls Country Club. Clinton County picked up the win on all three fronts with a team score of 159.

Kolby Smith and Stinson both carded 39, followed by Jeffery Brown with a 40 and Reed Sloan finished with a 41.

Bree Boils watched her approach shot on number six hole at 76 Falls Country Club Tuesday. The girls team hosted a match against Clarkrange, Pickett County and York Institute.

John Crouch chipped up on number nine green Tuesday just inches from the hole during the Dawgs’ match against Pickett County, Clarkrange and York Institute. Clinton County won the match with a team score of 159.

Macy Campbell watched her chip shot on number six hole at 76 Falls Tuesday during the Lady Golf Dawgs match against Pickett County, Clarkrange and York Institute.
