Friends of Lake Cumberland, Inc. invites you to roll up your sleeves, lace up your boots, and put on your work gloves to take part in the 24th annual Lake Cumberland Cleanup.

The cleanup his held at locations all over the lake in an effort to remove trash, tires, appliances, etc. from the shoreline of Lake Cumberland. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided.

Participants are asked to check-in on the day of the cleanup at one of the following locations:

* Eastern Time Zone: Saturday, September 21, 9-11 a.m.: General Burnside Island State Park; Waitsboro Recreation Area; Conley Bottom Resort.

* Central Time Zone: Saturday, September 21, 9-11 a.m.: Lake Cumberland State Park (Launching Ramp); Grider Hill Dock.

There will be appreciation picnics with free food and prizes at Burnside Island State Park at 12 noon Eastern Time and Lake Cumberland State Park at 12 noon Central Time.

Cash prizes will be awarded for most garbage collected, as follows: 1st: $250; 2nd: $200; 3rd: $150; 4th: $100; Small Group (fewer than 15 people) 1st: $50; Small Group 2nd: $25; Most tires collected: $50; Most unusual item found: $25.

This event is supported by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
