Congrats to the Volley Dawgs
Congratulations are in order to our Clinton County High School Volley Dawgs and a runner-up trophy that will be added to the Big Blue hardware case.
Clinton County defeated the Hornets of Metcalfe County Monday in opening round action at Cumberland County, advancing after those victories to the championship round where they faced Russell County.
The Lady Lakers picked up the district championship over our Volley Dawgs, but a runner-up finish is certainly a nice accomplishment as well.
A more complete game account as well as photos from Monday night’s tournament action can be found elsewhere this week in Sports.
Bulldogs back in action this Friday night, but on the road
Two more games remain on the Clinton County Bulldogs’ 2013 football schedule, and this Friday night our Dawgs head back across the state line to take on the Bulldogs of Clay County (Celina) Tennessee.
Clinton County takes a 4-4 record to Celina to face a 2-6 Clay County squad.
The Bulldogs return to Bulldog field for the final outing of the season the following Friday night when they play host to Jackson County on November 1.
Both remaining games are set to begin at 7:00 p.m .
Runnin’ Dawgs out in force
There were plenty of blue and white uniforms scattered among the 178 runners who were out early Saturday to take part in the Foothills Festival 5K Run, ranging from varsity runners all the way down to elementary school aged Cross Country Runnin’ Dawgs.
Congrats goes out to all of the runners who competed in the local race Saturday, as well as the coaches. Runnin’ Dawg Jacob Cross was the first to cross the finish line wearing the blue and white.
Roundball about a month away – a few dates to mark down
Clinton County roundball action is still more than a month away from seeing the 2013-14 season underway, but already fans are beginning to get excited about the new season for both our Lady Dawgs and Bulldogs.
A few dates to look forward to include:
November 15 – the date of the Big Blue Mania / Meet the Bulldogs gathering at Clinton County High School’s Lindle Castle Gymnasium, where we get the first look at our teams in a blue-white scrimmage setting. Also the date of the Wall of Fame inductions. More details as the time nears.
Scrimmages will see the Lady Bulldogs facing Estill County Saturday, November 16 and West Jessamine on Friday, November 22, both away. The Bulldogs will scrimmage Bardstown on Friday, November 22, then Male on Tuesday, November 26. Both at home.
The first games of the season will see the Bulldogs playing host to Rockcastle on Monday, December 2, then Somerset on December 5. Our Lady Dawgs will play first in a road game on Friday, December 2 at Warren East, then in a double header the following night, Saturday December 3, against Franklin-Simpson.
Expect printed basketball schedules to be available no later than the November 15 Meet the Bulldogs night.
