Happy Angels Halloween Chili

Supper and Pet Costume Contest

A fundraiser for Happy Angels Animal Rescue will be held at Mountain View Park on Friday, October 25 from 5-8 p.m. under the Marlow Pavilion. Chili, sides, drinks and dessert will be $5 per person. Dress up your pet and enter the costume contest which will be judged at 6 p.m. Prizes awarded for cutest, funniest and scariest. All proceeds will help to provide food, veterinarian care and transportation of rescued pets to no-kill adoption shelters.

Project Graduation 5K color run

The 2014 Clinton County Project Graduation 5K Color Run will be Saturday, October 26 at 2 p.m. Runners will start and finish at Albany Elementary School. Registration is $25 with the first 200 registering receiving a t-shirt. All proceeds go to Clinton County High School 2014 Project Graduation. Celebrate My Drive underway

Celebrate My Drive is a community celebration that encourages teens to make safe choices behind the wheel. You could help Clinton County High School receive a $100,000 or $25,000 grant, and maybe even a concert from Kelly Clarkson. Burkesville Academy of Fine Arts to present ‘The Wizard of Oz’

Burkesville Academy of Fine Arts is excited to announce our upcoming production of “The Wizard of Oz.” With a click of the heels and a sprinkle of magic you’ll be swept away to the Emerald City with BAFA’s bewitching adventure of the land of Oz. Performances will be at the Cumberland County Middle School on Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 27 at 2 p.m. Admission is open to the public and is $5 per person. Seating is first come, first serve and house doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Call BAFA at (270) 459-2727 with questions.

Farm Bureau fruit orders

The Clinton County Farm Bureau is now accepting its annual fruit orders. Orders must be placed by Tuesday, October 29. You may call the local Farm Bureau office to place your order at 606-387-6633.

Rec/Park Board meeting

The Rec/Park Board will meet next Thursday, October 24 at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Park. The meeting is open to the general public. 1-2

Veteran’s program at Peolia

Peolia United Methodist Church, located one mile south of Albany on Hwy. 738, will have its annual Veterans Day program on Sunday, November 10 at 11 a.m. All veterans and those currently in service (and our JROTC Bulldog Battalion Cadets) will be recognized and honored. Ones currently in military service, JROTC cadets and any veteran that still has a uniform (if you can get into it) are requested to come in your uniform. The program will have a presentation on freedom. The public is invited to attend.

Soil Conservation meeting

The Clinton County Soil Conservation District will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, October 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the conference room of the FSA/NRCS office. The meeting is open to the public.

Conceal/Carry class offered

Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center will be hosting a concealed carry/safety class November 16th. The Class is eight hours long. (part of this class will take place at the gun range).
