The Clinton County Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Bulldog Battalion hosted its annual Veterans Day Assembly Friday afternoon in front of the entire high school student body.
The assembly, in years past, has always had a theme and this year’s theme was “Letters From Home.”
The assembly began at 1:15 with Master Sergeant John Thomure providing the welcoming remarks.
Battalion Commander, c/LTC Dakota Melton commanded the posting of the colors by the JROTC Color Guard while the National Anthem was performed by the Clinton County High School Band under the direction of Doug Sell.
Cadet Chaplain c/CPT Candice Cross led the assembly in prayer followed by Thomure with a history of Veterans’ Day.
The ceremony continued with the posting of the flags, including the Army, U.S. Marine, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Air Force. When each flag was presented, veterans in the crowd stood up to honor the branch of armed forces they were a part of.
The JROTC also recognized the “Missing Man Roll Call” with a 21-gun salute and “Taps” performed by the band. That part of the ceremony is illistrated in the top two photos.
“Letters from Home” were also read by Bulldog Battalion Cadets, detailing how a soldier feels when he/she has been deployed oversees.
The photos to the right were taken during the ceremony with CWO Ron Cook, right, playing the song “Letters from Home” toward the end of the ceremony.
