Homemakers to present first annual Christmas Market

Looking for great Christmas gifts? Brown Baggers Homemaker Club are looking for local crafters, bakers, and merchants to set up shop at the First Annual Clinton County Christmas Market. The Christmas Market will be held December 2, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Community Center. Christmas Village set for Nov. 21

The Homemakers Annual Christmas Village will be held on November 21st at the Learning Center from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Participants ages 3-12 will be allowed to purchase up to six gifts for family members. Most items cost $5 or less. Homemaker elves will shop with the children so that gifts will be a true surprise when opened. Story time, singing, and simple crafts will be available. Santa will be there, so bring your camera for those special holiday photos! For more information, contact the Extension Office at 387-5404.

Holiday favors and flavors

The Clinton and Cumberland County Extension Offices will offer a Holiday Favors and Flavors program on Saturday, November 23rd. There will be lessons and take home ideas for Sweet Treats, Holiday Entertaining, Wrap It Up, Pamper Yourself, and Specially Created Gifts. Session I will be held at the Cumberland County Extension Office with registration 8:00-8:30 a.m. and the program 8:30-10:30 a.m. Session II will be held at the Clinton County Extension Office with registration 12:00-12:30 p.m. and the program 12:30-2:30 p.m. Classes will be the same at each location. Choose the time and place that works best for you! A $5.00 registration fee is due to your local Extension Office by November 18th. kynect Help Days

The Clinton County Health Coalition will sponsor kynect Help Days to review applications turned in to community partners (Extension, FRYSC, Library, Health Department, Community Action, and Hospital) by November 14th.

A kynect Help Day for applicants with last names A-H ONLY will be held on Tuesday, November 26th 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon or 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Clinton County Community Center.

A separate kynect Help Day for applicants last names I-Z ONLY will be held on Friday, December 6th 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon or 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Clinton County Community Center.

Please be prepared and bring the following items with you to your assigned kynect Help Day: Social Security card, birth certificate, driver’s licenses, and income verification (last paystub, 2012 tax return, monthly benefit award letter, or bank statement). Goody bags, food, and door prizes available during each kynect Help Day. For more information, contact the Clinton County Extension Office at 387-5404.

5K run, 2-mile walk,

1-mile kids Fun Run

On Saturday, November 23, the 6th annual 5k run, 2 mile walk and 1 mile kids Fun Run will be held starting at 8 a.m. at the Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center, with registration between 6:30 and 7:45 a.m. Health vendors will be on-site. TLFWC to offer boot camp to get in shape

Adair Homemakers’ Bazaar

The Adair County Extension Homemakers’ Bazaar will be held Saturday, November 23 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the VFW Hall, Fairgrounds Street in Columbia. There will be arts and crafts, holiday decorations, homemade baked goods, jams, jellies, relishes, candies, door prizes, lunch and good fellowship. See you there! Blood Drive scheduled in Albany

Area residents are invited to be life-savers at the upcoming Kentucky Blood Center blood drive to take place Tuesday, November 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SCC-Clinton Center, Room 220 at 1273 KY Hwy. 90 in Albany. The drive is sponsored by the Student Government and for persons who forgo their incentive, the Kentucky Blood Center will give the value of the item to the Salvation Army.

Blood donors must have a photo I.D., be 17-years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.

Planning Committee to host public forum

The Clinton County School District Local Planning Committee will conduct a Public Forum on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Central Office Board Room, at 5:30 p.m. This meeting is an informal gathering to encourage local participation through community suggestions relative to future utilization of existing school facilities. The Clinton County School District Local Planning Committee will meet following the Public Forum on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. to review the proposed final District Facilities Plan as recommended by the Kentucky Department of Education.

Cattleman’s Association to hold annual meeting

The Clinton/Cumberland Cattleman’s Association Annual meeting will be held on Tuesday November 26th at 6:00pm at Bluegrass Stockyards in Albany. Please call the Clinton County Extension Office at 387-5404 if you plan to attend so meal preparations can be made.

Grain production meeting set for November 25

A grain production meeting will be held at the Wayne County Extension Office on Monday November 25th at 6:00 pm(EST). UK Extension grain crops specialist Chad Lee will present topics on corn, soybeans, and wheat, one emphasis will be on results of Corn population research he has been conducting.

Extension associate Amanda Gumbert will also be at the meeting to discuss ag water quality and nutrient management plans for grain producers.
