Benefits of morning walks

By April Speck, Coordinator,

Clinton County Healthy Hometown Coalition

The morning walk is an exercise which is suitable for people of all age groups. walking not requires any athletic ability, so make it an essential part of your lifestyle.

Walking in the morning is one of the best exercises for your health. A 30 minute walk early in the morning is worth about a two hour hard core exercise as if in the gym. It gives us a sense of happiness, calms our agitated nerves and cools down the mind, body and soul.

These are just a few from hundreds of benefits that you get from a morning walk.

• Morning walk reduces type 2 Diabetes. It balances the blood sugar levels and reduces the weight which may be the major factor in contributing to many diseases.

• Morning walks improve the brain power and this is a scientifically proved fact. It gives mental clarity and helps to improve the concentration as well.

• Walk in the morning promotes muscular development, increases circulation, and increases the body metabolism, reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke. Also, the sweat takes out salt and dust from the physical body. In addition, this also gives a great relief to back pain.

• Morning walk prevents the deposition of fat in the blood vessel walls and thus maintains the blood pressure of the body. If the fat gets deposited into the walls of blood vessels it will narrow the diameter of the blood vessels which causes the rise of blood pressure in the body.

• Morning walk also helps to reduce the risk of cancer; if someone is already suffering from cancer then it helps in the fast recovery and survival of that person.
