Learning to control diabetes
The Clinton County Health Department will be giving Learning to Control Diabetes classes each Tuesday throughout the month of January, the 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Classes are free but pre-registration is required by calling 387-5711, ext. 1166.

Farmhouse donating 100 meals
The Farmhouse Restaurant, Byrdstown, Tennessee, will once again be donating 100 meals for those who won’t be having a Christmas dinner in Albany/Clinton County, Kentucky. These will be delivered on Christmas Eve morning, between 11 a.m. and 12 noon. Reservations will be taken for deliveries from Monday, December 9 through the evening of Saturday, December 21 or until meals are all reserved. To make reservations call 387-0005. Do not leave a message on the answering machine, you must talk to a person. They will need your name, phone number and physical address (no P.O. Boxes please) and number of meals needed. The youth group from Westview Christian Church will be delivering the meals on Christmas Eve.
School Board meeting cancelled
The regular meeting of the Clinton County Board of Education, scheduled for Monday, December 9, has been cancelled.
Project Graduation meeting
Project Graduation will meet Monday, December 9 at 6 p.m. at the CCHS cafeteria. All parents and students are urged to attend.
Local/State Public Hearing
On behalf of the Clinton County Local Planning Committee, the Clinton County Board of Education will convene a Local/State Public Hearing to review the proposed District Facilities Plan. The hearing will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Central Office board room at 5:30 p.m. local time. This hearing will be for the purpose of recording testimony concerning the District Facilities Plan. Copies of the proposed District Facilities Plan will be available for examination by interested individuals at the board office, 2353 North Highway 127, Albany, Kentucky 42602, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. through December 19, 2013. New dates for acreage reporting with Farm Service Agency
Albany Farm Service Agency would like to make local farmers aware of new acreage reporting dates: December 15, 2013 – FallbBarley, fall wheat, and all other fall-seeded small grains.
Farmers must file their reports accurately and timely for all crops and land uses, including prevented and failed acreage, to ensure they receive the maximum FSA program benefits possible.
Individuals may stop by the USDA Service Center between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. 8-3p
Santa Letter deadline reminder
A reminder that all Santa letters should be submitted to the office of the Clinton County News no later than Monday, December 9 at 4 p.m. Also, school classes and other groups are urged to turn letters in the week of December 2 to assure publication in the special Christmas section edition.

Migrant Program parent meeting
Clinton County Schools Migrant Program will have a parent meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the Early Childhood Center. Brandon Pharis from the Extension Office and the 4-H Ambassadors will do a presentation on how drinking excessive sodas can affect your health. There will be gifts for each child enrolled in the Migrant Program and a free turkey certificate for each Migrant family.
