Clinton Fiscal Court, holding its last meeting of calendar year 2013, dealt with only general government business last Thursday evening in what was another call session with all members present.

The brief business meeting, which was held just prior to the annual employee Christmas dinner, was held at the Clinton County Community Center. Although the date and time of the regular meeting remained the same, under Kentucky Open Meetings Laws, due to the change in location of the session from the courthouse, the meeting was deemed to be a special call meeting.

The court approved second and final reading of a 2013-14 fiscal year budget amendment to include unanticipated receipts from a USDA ambulance RD grant in the amount of $50,000 and State Homeland Security funds in the amount of $33,000, increasing expenditures in the areas of the EMS and general government.

During the monthly treasurer’s report, the court also approved the report along with fund transfers.

After voting to reappoint Debbie Brown to the Industrial Development Authority Board, the court presented and accepted the county clerk and sheriff’s yearly budgets.

The court also approved first reading of an interlocal agreement between the Clinton and Wayne County Sheriff’s Departments, allowing either of those law enforcement agencies to act in locations where the nearest law enforcement official can respond regardless of which county the need arises.

In the case of Wayne, Clinton and Russell counties, some areas that border and sometimes cross over due to lakes, etc. overlap and in some emergency situations, for example, a Clinton County sheriff or deputy may be closer to the scene in Wayne County and under the agreement approved, would be able to legally respond to the call.

The meeting was then adjourned with no further officials actions being listed on the agenda.

The next regular meeting of Clinton County Fiscal Court is scheduled for Thursday, January 16 at 5 p.m. at the courthouse and is open to the general public.
