The Clinton County Bulldogs picked up its 14th win of the season Monday night as the team traveled to Campbellsville to take on the Tigers, bringing home an 11 point victory, 83-72.
During the first quarter, Clinton County completely outmatched Campbellsville and put up 24 points while holding the Tigers to only 13.
As the second quarter got underway, it was clear Clinton County had found the mark from behind the three point line, hitting six during the first quarter and a half as a team.
At the four minute mark, Clinton County led by 16 points, 35-21, but Campbellsville wasn’t finish just yet.
The Tigers outscored Clinton County 24-17 in the second quarter and held the Bulldogs to only six points in the final half of the second quarter to cut the Dawgs’ lead to only four at halftime, 41-37.
During the third period, Clinton County reached a nine point lead, 50-41, but managed to only score five more points for the remainder of the period. Campbellsville put up 13 in the final half of the third to cut the Dawgs’ lead to two points, 55-53, to start the final quarter.
Clinton County came out in the fourth quarter and put together an 8-1 run to push the lead to nine points, 63-54.
Campbellsville cut the lead to five, but the hot hand from Lance Claywell, who poured in 36 points for the game, hitting seven three pointers total, gave the Dawgs the cushion it needed to pull of the 83-72 win over the Tigers.

The Bulldogs will be back in action Friday as the team travels to Allen County-Scottsville for a 7:30 p.m. tip off, and will host Whitley County Saturday night. Saturday night’s game will be a makeup game that was canceled during the first part of January.
The Dawgs will also travel to Wayne County on Tuesday, February 4, to take on the Cardinals. As of press time Tuesday, the Cardinals are undefeated at 20-0 on the season.
