The Lady Bulldogs pulled off an impressive win Monday night against McCreary Central, 63-47, mostly due to its third quarter press that left McCreary Central scoreless for the better part of the third quarter. The team also traveled to Casey County this week, but lost the contest Friday night by two points to, 55-53.

During the first half, both teams were struggling from the floor, however, both teams were matching each other point for point behind the three point line.
McCreary County jumped out to an early 7-2 lead over the Lady Dawgs, but a three pointer by Macy Campbell at the 4:30 mark, cut the lead to two points, 7-5.
McCreary County hit another three pointer to push the lead to five points with 4:14 on the clock.
Cori Langford put in a basket to cut the Lady Raiders’ lead to only three points, followed by another basket by the Lady Dawgs to get to within one point, 10-9 with 1:15 on the clock.
McCreary Central hit a basket with two seconds remaining in the first to take a three point lead at the end of one, 12-9.
During the second quarter, both teams continued to struggle on offense and Clinton County’s defense wouldn’t pick up until the third period.
The Lady Dawgs tied the game at 19 with 5:47 on the clock, and took the lead on its next possession on a three pointer by Alex Beard, 22-19.
McCreary matched with a basket and a free throw to tie the score at 22, but a free throw by Joelie Hicks and a basket by Campbell put the Lady Dawgs up by three points with 4:30 remaining in the half, 25-22.
McCreary Central finished the half on a 5-2 run to tie the score at the half, 27-27.
As the second half got underway, Clinton County came out on a mission and started its full court press.
McCreary Central didn’t have an answer for Clinton County’s quickness on the front line as the Lady Dawgs put together a 19-4 run during the period to lead 48-31 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Clinton County’s defense remained strong in the first part of the final period as the Lady Dawgs continued to hold McCreary Central scoreless until the 6:49 mark. The Lady Raiders hadn’t scored since the 3:26 mark in the third period, before a basket cut the Lady Dawgs lead to 17 points, 50-33.
From that point on, Clinton County hit the cruise button and sored to a 63-47 win over the Lady Raiders, bring its record to 10-11 on the year.

The Lady Dawgs traveled to Casey County Friday night, January 24. The Lady Dawgs secured a one point lead at the end of one, 15-14, but fell behind in the second quarter, 31-22.
The Lady Dawgs put up nine points in the third quarter compared to Casey County’s five to cut the lead to seven, 38-31 and outscored Casey County in the final period, 22-17, but couldn’t pull out the win as Casey County finished with a two point edge, 55-53.

The Lady Dawgs will be back in action Friday night as the team travels to Allen County-Scottsville for a 6 p.m. tip off. The Lady Dawgs will also travel to Wayne County on Tuesday, February 4, to take on the Lady Cardinals.
