A Clinton County man who escaped custody from the Clinton County Jail almost two months ago, has been apprehended in the state of Wisconsin, where he also faces charges there.
According to Clinton County Sheriff Rick Riddle, Jesse W. Pittman, who ran from the local detention center on foot almost two months ago, was taken into custody by Barron County, Wisconsin authorities early last week. He was reportedly charged in that state with methamphetamine possession.
Sheriff Riddle said the defendant has waived extradition and will be returned to Clinton County, possibly in a week or two, after going through the legal system in the state of Wisconsin on the charges they arrested him on.
The sheriff said he received word from Wisconsin authorities early last week pertaining to the escapee’s arrest in that state.
Pittman escaped custody from the Clinton County Jail the morning of February 7, while being returned to the facility after an earlier court appearance.
Pittman, who was previously charged locally with manufacturing methamphetamine, was on the lamb for about seven weeks prior to being apprehended. He now faces an additional grand jury indictment charge of escape-second degree in Clinton Circuit Court.
Law enforcement officers from Albany Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and Kentucky State Police were all involved in the search for Pittman after he ran from the local facility on foot just before 11 a.m. on February 7.
The escape, which began immediately around the Golden Harvest Village area, ultimately resulted in a lock-down of the local schools as a precautionary measure.
Sheriff Riddle said at the time of the defendant’s escape that he had previously missed an earlier scheduled court date and was arrested on a warrant that had been issued in relation to that incident.
Clinton County Jailer Gene Ferrill said at the time that Pittman had been lodged in the Casey County Detention Center before being transported to Clinton County for court on arraignment proceedings that morning.
