A man facing state and federal charges was picked up in Putnam County last week, after authorities say he had been hiding out here.

Christopher Maurice Sadler, 28, has a history of drug charges and was indicted in federal court on charges of theft of government money in October 2011.

Most recently, authorities had a state parole warrant for Sadler’s arrest and the U.S. Marshall’s Office had issued a detainer for Sadler as federal charges are pending.

On Tuesday of last week, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department along with the Baxter Police Department located Sadler and arrested him. U.S. Deputy Marshall Patrick Store, Deputy Josh Reams, Deputy Gabe Frizzell and Deputy Matt McDaniel worked the case with the help of Baxter Police Chief Danny Holmes and the Baxter Police Department.

The federal indictment for Sadler issued last year charged him with “knowingly and willfully steal(ing) United States currency from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, a department or agency of the United States.” Details of that case have not been released.

In 2011, Sadler was indicted by the grand jury for allegedly possessing cocaine for resale.

A Cumberland County (Tenn.) man who led police on an extensive chase two weeks ago Wednesday has been arrested.

Jason Russel Randolph, 27, was reportedly picked up by police in Cumberland County Thursday night at a motel, according to reports. Randolph is wanted in several Upper Cumberland counties for burglary, theft and a home invasion in Overton County.

On Wednesday, Cumberland County authorities attempted to perform a traffic stop on Randolph when he fled, crashing his vehicle on a farm near the Plateau River exit at Interstate 40 near Monterey.

Monterey Police and Putnam County Sheriff Deputies were called to help search for Randolph, but it wasn’t until Thursday evening that he was captured.

Randolph is a suspect in at least two recent vehicle thefts in Monterey.

Cumberland County authorities were holding Randolph on probation violations, resisting arrest, and drug charges, reports state.
