Overton County Sheriff’s Department, the office of District Attorney General Randy York, and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in Monterey Saturday, February 15.

According to TBI Executive Officer Illana Tate, Bobby Bilbrey, 41, of Monterey, was shot at 164 Hassler Road in Monterey.

“No arrests have been made yet,” Tate said. “It is still early in the investigation. Motive and circumstances in this incident are not being released at this time.”

Tate said TBI responded to the scene at approximately 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

When questioned, Overton County Sheriff’s Department detectives advised they would not be releasing any details about the incident since TBI is in charge of the investigation.

Hassler Road has seen murders in the not-too-distant past. As reported in the Tuesday, December 13, 2011 OCN, Kevin Clark was found guilty of two counts of first degree murder, one count of aggravated arson, aggravated assault of two OCSD deputies, reckless endangerment of another OCSD deputy, and abuse of a corpse.

In the incident, Clark allegedly became involved in a dispute with his mother, Vida Clark, and brother, Roy Clark, at a residence on Hassler Road, later shooting and killing both of them and setting the house on fire.

At the time, the District Attorney’s office said Clark would face a “minimum of 51 calendar years for first degree murder.”
