KSP Post 15 Taking Applications for Citizen’s Police Academy

Kentucky State Police, Post 15, is now accepting applications for the 2014 Kentucky State Police Citizens Police Academy. The 10-week academy is slated to begin March 10, 2014 and will meet on the following dates:

March 10, 13, 17, 24 and 27

April 3, 7, 14, 28

May 5 and 19 with graduation ceremonies held on Monday, May 19.

All classes will meet from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM EDT.

Participants will learn about the many facets of the Kentucky State Police. Class topics will include criminal patrol, criminal investigations, and drug investigations. Participants will also take part in simulated traffic stops, crime scene scenarios and evidence collection.

The Academy will be held at the State Fire Rescue Training Center located at 385 Old Greensburg Road in Campbellsville. Applications can be obtained by contacting the Kentucky State Police Post 15 at 270-384-4796 or by visiting http://www.kentuckystatepolice.org/posts/post15.htm.

Anyone 18 years of age and living within the Kentucky State Police Post 15 counties is welcome to apply. There is no cost to attend but space is limited. Applications will not be accepted after March 3, 2014 at 12:00 EDT. ALL applicants will be subject to a criminal history check.

Those chosen to participate in the class DO NOT receive any specialized training certifications or law enforcement powers.

This is an educational experience created to help increase public awareness and community oriented policing.
