March Madness 5K scheduled

The March Madness 5K will be Friday, March 14 at 5:30 p.m. This will be an individual team race with awards. The team can be made up for any five (5) members. Top three teams will receive awards. $15 entry fee for individual, $5 additional for team entry. T-shirt included if pre-registered by Monday, March 10. The event will be held at Veterans Park Pavilion in Burkesville. Proceeds go to Cumberland County travel teams. For more information call 270-459-0300 or michelle.murphy@cumberland.kyschools.us.

School board monthly meeting

Clinton County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday, March 10 at 5 p.m. at the Central Office board room. The meeting is open to the general public.

Clinton County Health Department offering free diabetes classes

Do you have diabetes? Feeling overwhelmed? Just want to feel better? We are here to help you…each step along the way. The Clinton County Health Department will be offering the following classes: Support Group (Stress Less) Tuesday, March 11 from 1-2 p.m. Pre-registration is required. American Legion &

VFW to meet

American Legion and VFW will meet Saturday, March 8 at 1 p.m. at the VFW Post Hall on Hopkins Street. All members are urged to attend.

PAL Time for families

and children

The Clinton County Community Early Childhood Council will be sponsoring PAL (Play and Learn) Time for families and children ages birth-8 years old, Saturday, March 15 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Early Childhood Center. Let’s play, learn and grow together! Call the Family Resource Center at 387-5828 ext. 195 or the Clinton County Extension Office at 387-5404 by Monday, March 10 to register.

5K Run/Walk for Life

Pickett County Relay For Life will present a 5K Run/Walk for Life on Saturday, April 12 at 9 a.m. with registration at 8 a.m. at the Pickett County K-8 school (back entrance) in Byrdstown, Tennessee. Early registration (by March 28) is $25 and includes a t-shirt and same-day registration is $20 (no t-shirt). There will be awards for top overall male and female winner in eight different age groups. Little League sign-ups to begin

Clinton County Little League will be having sign-ups from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at IGA on the following Saturdays: March 8, 15 and 22. Entry fee is $30 for first child and $20 for each additional child. Please bring the child’s birth certificate at sign-up.

Little League meeting Sunday

The Clinton County Little League Board will meet Sunday, March 9 at 3 p.m. at Mountain View Park. Anyone interested in being on the board, coaching, or helping in any way is encouraged to attend.

Truth & Consequences:

The Choice is Yours

Truth & Consequences: The Choice is Yours will be held for CCHS freshman on Friday, March 7th at the Clinton County Fairgrounds from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. The event is designed to show students the impact of getting involved in both legal and illegal substances. Community volunteers are needed. Home School Gym will be held on Mondays at 1 p.m. Cost per child is $3.

Mommy n’ Me exercise class will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m.

Hula Hoop Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. Beginners welcomed.

Fit and Tone on Thursdays at 4:30 p.m.

Self Defense at 6 p.m.

Kids Dance on Saturdays at TLFWC

Mix Dance Class. Ages 7-12 years old free with membership.

Boot Camp – Melt those pounds away with Jennifer at TLFWC. Cost per class is $5 with membership.

Wizard’s game rescheduled

The Harlem Wizards vs. Albany Shooting Stars, sponsored by Project Graduation, has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at the CCHS gymnasium. Tickets may be purchased now from any high school senior.

Chili supper/auction at

Byrdstown Masonic Lodge

On Saturday, March 8, from 5-9 p.m., the Byrdstown (Tennessee) Masonic Lodge will be hosting a chili supper at its lodge located at 501 W. Main Street. The chili supper is open to the public and is $5 per person. Several donated items will be presented at auction with bid results posted at 8:30 p.m. 20-2

AA meeting 

AA will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church. 

VA Rep available 

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month. Veterans can schedule an appointment by phoning 270-651-9578 or toll free at 800-850-1392. 

Narcotics Anonymous 

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights at 7 p.m. at the Bright Idea Missionary Baptist Church basement in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.
