Twin Lakes Beekeepers to meet

The Twin Lakes Beekeepers Association meeting will be held Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m. at the Extension Office. Anyone interested in beekeeping are urged to attend.

Little League sign-ups to begin

Clinton County Little League will be having sign-ups from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at IGA on the following Saturdays: March 15 and 22. Entry fee is $30 for first child and $20 for each additional child. Please bring the child’s birth certificate at sign-up. We are also accepting applications at the 21st Century basketball game.

The Clinton County Little League Board will meet Sunday, March 16 at 3 p.m. at Mountain View Park. Anyone interested in being on the board, coaching, or helping in any way is encouraged to attend.

Big Blue Shape-up

Do you need a little motivation to lose weight? Would a competition make you more accountable? Would prizes and cash increase your commitment and enthusiasm? If so, you need to join Big Blue Shape Up 2014! Initial weigh-in and registration will be Thursday, March 20 from 4:30-6 p.m. with final weigh-in at 5 p.m. at the Clinton County Extension Office. A $10 one-time registration fee will go toward prizes to top winners at the end of competition. Big Blue Shape Up will offer two different tracks for participants:

Traditional Track: Face-to-Face classes with weekly weigh-in. Participants choosing this method will have class meetings on March 25, April 8 and 22 and May 6 and 20, all at the Extension Office. On “off-weeks” participants can come in to weigh and pick up educational material. Online Track: Email/Facebook with weekly weigh-in. Participants choosing this method will receive educational materials through email and/or Clinton County Cooperative Facebook Page. Weekly weigh-in on Tuesdays is required for “all” participants. Jewelry and accessory sale

A masquerade jewelry and accessory sale will be held Thursday, March 20 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clinton County Hospital dining room. Selling will be jewelry, tote bags, scarves, wallets and much more. Everything for $5. This is sponsored by the Hospital Auxiliary.

Kentucky Wildflower Webinar

The Clinton County Extension office will be hosting the Kentucky Wildflower Webinar presented by UK Extension professor Tom Barnes Thursday March 13th at 6:00 pm; if you are interested in wildflowers and native plants of Kentucky. You are invited to come to the Extension Office this Thursday to learn more about these plants.

Free soil tests offered

The Clinton County Extension Service in cooperation with the Clinton County Conservation District will be providing producers with three free soil tests done through the UK soil testing lab. The program has a limited number of free soil tests and will be on a first come, first served basis. The program will require producers to attend an educational session at the Clinton County Extension Office in order to receive the free soil tests. The first session will be on Tuesday, March 18th at 5:00 pm. Please call the Extension Office for more information on this program at 606-387-5404.

Kynect representative to be at

Clinton County Hospital March 18

A representative from Kynect will be at the Clinton County Hospital March 18th from 9:00 am till 3:00 PM in the old hospital entrance front lobby. Please come by and speak to them to see if you qualify for free health insurance. Call 606-305-2704 with any questions.

Fiscal Court regular meeting

Clinton County Fiscal Court will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, March 20 at 5 p.m. at the courthouse. The meeting is open to the general public. 22-2

March Madness 5K scheduled

The March Madness 5K will be Friday, March 14 at 5:30 p.m. This will be an individual team race with awards. The team can be made up for any five (5) members. Top three teams will receive awards. $15 entry fee for individual, $5 additional for team entry. T-shirt included if pre-registered by Monday, March 10. PAL Time for families

and children

The Clinton County Community Early Childhood Council will be sponsoring PAL (Play and Learn) Time for families and children ages birth-8 years old, Saturday, March 15 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Early Childhood Center. AA meeting 

AA will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church. 

5K Run/Walk for Life

Pickett County Relay For Life will present a 5K Run/Walk for Life on Saturday, April 12 at 9 a.m. with registration at 8 a.m. at the Pickett County K-8 school (back entrance) in Byrdstown, Tennessee. Early registration (by March 28) is $25 and includes a t-shirt and same-day registration is $20 (no t-shirt). There will be awards for top overall male and female winner in eight different age groups. Wizard’s game rescheduled

The Harlem Wizards vs. Albany Shooting Stars, sponsored by Project Graduation, has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at the CCHS gymnasium. Tickets may be purchased now from any high school senior.

VA Rep available 

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month. Narcotics Anonymous 

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights at 7 p.m. at the Bright Idea Missionary Baptist Church basement in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.
