Mr. Hill Alexander Smith, age 94, of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky. He was born in the Chestnut Grove Community in Cumberland County, Kentucky on Wednesday, September 10, 1919, the son of Will and Altie Neeley Smith. He was an Iron Worker for J. A. Jones Construction, a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Masonic Plumb Lodge #862 F. and A. M. in Louisville, Kentucky and a member of the Burkesville Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Christine Shepherd Smith, his second wife, Margaret Long Smith, his brothers, James Smith and Nell Smith and his sisters, Mattie Cheatham and Mary (Moot) Riley.

He is survived by his children, Don (and Sue) Smith of Bonita Springs, Florida; Peggy (and Ray) Montgomery of Reynolds Station, Kentucky; James (and Mary) Smith of Hawesville, Kentucky; his step-children, Brenda (and Jeff) Evanyk of Burkesville, Kentucky; Linda (and John) Phillips of Burkesville, Kentucky; Vickie (and Tony) Wells of Burkesville, Kentucky; David Long of Burkesville, Kentucky; and Joe (and Dawn) Long of Bowling Green, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Katie, Chad, Tina, Tim, Tommy, Drew, Lindsey, DeWayne, Rhonda, Scottie, Tina, Timmy, James, Jr., Jeremy, Adrian, Kaylee Dee, Jonathan and Daniel and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Shelton officiating. Burial was in the Burkesville Cemetery.
