Tennis teams host first match against Cumberland

Chris Cox returned a ball during his singles match Thursday against Cumberland County. Cox finished with a win, 6-1.

Rachel Claborn returned a ball cleanly against Cumberland County during her doubles match with partern Ashley Harper on Thursday. The combo lost the doubles match, 6-3.

 

The Clinton County Racket Dawgs hosted its first match of the season last Thursday against Cumberland County.

On the girls’ side, Clinton County picked up three wins and three losses.

The wins came from singles matches by Keisha Patrick and Chesney Polston, 6-0 and 6-2 respectively and a doubles win with the team of Patrick and Kristin Smith, 6-2.

The three losses for the team came with one in singles play, Bianca Soma lost 6-2, and two doubles matches with the team of Rachel Claborn/Ashley Harper, 6-3 and the team of Polston/Claborn, 4-0.

On the boys’ side, Clinton County picked up four wins and one loss. The wins all came in singles play with Chris Cox, 6-1, Matthew Hunter, 6-0, John Crouch, 6-0 and Frank Zheng, 4-0.

The loss came in doubles play with the team of Glen England/Haley Matthews with a final of 7-5.
