Albany Area Blood Drive

An Albany Community Blood Drive, sponsored by Albany Elementary School, will be held Wednesday, March 26 in the hallway at AES from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Make your appointment today at redcrossbloood.org, use sponsor code Albany19 to schedule your appointment. Also anyone presenting blood or platelets through March 31 will automatically be entered to win a $1,500 gift card. Soil Conservation District meeting

The Clinton County Soil Conservation District will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, March 27 at 10:30 a.m. in the conference room of the FSA/NRCS office. The meeting is open to the public.

Little League sign-ups to begin

Clinton County Little League will be having sign-ups from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at IGA on March 22. Entry fee is $30 for first child and $20 for each additional child. Please bring the child’s birth certificate at sign-up. We are also accepting applications at the 21st Century basketball game. We are also accepting three year olds for wee ball.

Little League meeting Sunday

The Clinton County Little League Board will meet Sunday, March 23 at 3 p.m. at Mountain View Park. Anyone interested in being on the board, coaching, or helping in any way is encouraged to attend.

Big Blue Shape-up

Do you need a little motivation to lose weight? Would a competition make you more accountable? Would prizes and cash increase your commitment and enthusiasm? If so, you need to join Big Blue Shape Up 2014! Initial weigh-in and registration will be Thursday, March 20 from 4:30-6 p.m. with final weigh-in at 5 p.m. at the Clinton County Extension Office. A $10 one-time registration fee will go toward prizes to top winners at the end of competition. Big Blue Shape Up will offer two different tracks for participants:

Traditional Track: Face-to-Face classes with weekly weigh-in. Participants choosing this method will have class meetings on March 25, April 8 and 22 and May 6 and 20, all at the Extension Office. On “off-weeks” participants can come in to weigh and pick up educational material. Online Track: Email/Facebook with weekly weigh-in. Participants choosing this method will receive educational materials through email and/or Clinton County Cooperative Facebook Page. Weekly weigh-in on Tuesdays is required for “all” participants. Jewelry and accessory sale

A masquerade jewelry and accessory sale will be held Thursday, March 20 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clinton County Hospital dining room. Selling will be jewelry, tote bags, scarves, wallets and much more. Everything for $5. This is sponsored by the Hospital Auxiliary.

Fiscal Court regular meeting

Clinton County Fiscal Court will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, March 20 at 5 p.m. at the courthouse. The meeting is open to the general public. 22-2

5K Run/Walk for Life

Pickett County Relay For Life will present a 5K Run/Walk for Life on Saturday, April 12 at 9 a.m. with registration at 8 a.m. at the Pickett County K-8 school (back entrance) in Byrdstown, Tennessee. Early registration (by March 28) is $25 and includes a t-shirt and same-day registration is $20 (no t-shirt). There will be awards for top overall male and female winner in eight different age groups. Wizard’s game rescheduled

The Harlem Wizards vs. Albany Shooting Stars, sponsored by Project Graduation, has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at the CCHS gymnasium. Tickets may be purchased now from any high school senior.

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights at 7 p.m. at the Bright Idea Missionary Baptist Church basement in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.
