LCADD to meet

The Lake Cumberland Area Development District Board of Directors regular scheduled meeting will be Thursday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m. Central Time in the conference room of the ADD office in Russell Springs.

Little League final sign-ups

Clinton County Little League will be having its last day for sign-ups on Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mountain View Park. Entry fee is $30 for the first child and $20 for each additional child in the immediate family. A copy of the child’s birth certificate is required at registration. Three year olds are eligible to play this year.

Little League board meeting

The Clinton County Little League Board will meet Saturday, March 29 at 1:30 p.m. at Mountain View Park. Anyone interested in helping in any way is encouraged to attend.

Family Fun Run and 5K Run

Clinton County Healthy Hometown Coalition will sponsor a Family Fun Run and 5K Run For the Roses on Saturday, May 3 starting at Mountain View Park. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a $15 fee. The runs begin at 9 a.m. T-shirts will be awarded to each participant and kids run “free.” To pre-register or for more information about either the family or 5K runs, contact Amanda Cross, Regina Parrigin, Barb McWhorter, Gina Poore or call April Speck, Healthy Hometown Coordinator, at 606-387-2051.

Hunter Education Range/Test Session

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife will conduct a hunter education range/test session Tuesday, April 8 from 5-8 p.m. at the Wayne County Sportsman’s Club in Monticello, Kentucky. In order to participate, the student will need to have completed either the internet or CD classroom sessions. The student will also be required to preregister. To pre-register and obtain the internet or CD options visit the hunter education page on the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife website, fw.ky.gov.

Class of ‘74 planning meeting

The Clinton County High School Class of 1974 will have a class reunion planning meeting Monday, March 31 at 6 p.m. at Subway in Albany. All persons interested in a class reunion are asked to attend.

Community Baby Shower

A Community Baby Shower will be held Thursday, April 10 at 4 p.m. at the Clinton County Community Center. Please register by Monday, April 7 by calling 387-5828, ext. 195 or 387-5404. Refreshments will be served. The event is for parents who are expecting a child and parents of babies up to three (3) months of age who live in Clinton County. The event is sponsored by the Clinton County Early Childhood Council, Adanta Regional Prevention Center’s KIDS NOW Plus program, with various other community partners.

AFD portrait fundraiser

The Albany Fire Department will be starting its annual portrait fund-raiser. It will be conducted door-to-door with a letter signed by Chief Robert Roeper, including his phone number. The letter will explain the fundraiser project. Funds raised from this project will be used to help pay for training and equipment for the building not covered by the grant. Please support this photography fundraiser as you have in the past. Come on down to the fire department and get your picture(s) made!

TLFWC upcoming events

The Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center will be hosting a concealed carry/safety class May 17th. The class is eight hours long (part of this class will take place at the gun range). The cost of the class is $75. Deadline for sign up is May 10th. Gift certificates are also available to purchase. The TLFWC pool will be open April 1st. Water Aerobics will begin on Wednesday, April 2 at 8:30 a.m. Members are free, one day guest passes are $5.

The TLFWC would like to welcome April Parrigin Armstrong to the center as a Guest Instructor this Saturday, March 29. Armstrong will be hosting a Spin Class at 9 a.m. and HIIT class ( High Intensity Interval Training) at 10 a.m. All are welcome, no matter what your ability or level. You do not need to pre-register. Guest are just $5 for the day, members are free.

Thomas Camargo from Essential Touch Therapy will be here this weekend Friday and Saturday. Massages offered are: Swedish Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release Therapy, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Sports Massage and Energy Work. Cheerleading Clinic and Tryouts

The Clinton County Elite Cheerleading Clinic and Tryouts are set to begin in April. You must be from 7-15 by August 1, 2014 to be eligible. Clinic dates are April 1-7-8-15-18-22.Tuesday dates will be held at the Clinton County Middle School from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Friday dates will be held at the Early Childhood Center from 4:30 – 6:30 p..m. Tryouts will be held Tuesday, April 25 at the Early Childhood Center beginning at 5 p.m. The new team will be announced on April 27. Everyone interested is welcome to attend. Clinton Family Literacy

Family Night

The Clinton County Family Literacy will be having Family Night Thursday, March 27 at 5 p.m. at the Early Childhood lunchroom. Lonnie Scott from the Clinton Co. EMS will be the speaker. Lake Cumberland Head Start/Early Head Start pre-enrollment

Lake Cumberland Head Start/Early Head Start is now taking applications for the 2014-15 school year. Head Start is for three and four-year old children and Early Head Start for income-eligible families, including pregnant women, infants and toddlers through age three. Clinton Alumni Band organizing

We are moving forward with organizing an Alumni Band for Clinton County. We have set up a Facebook page, but just in case you do not have one, we wanted to give everyone a chance at becoming part of this wonderful group. This group will be playing a few events throughout the county as well as being a strong organization to help our local high school band. City Council regular meeting

Albany City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, April 1 at 5 p.m. at city hall. The meeting is open to the public.

Albany Area Blood Drive

An Albany Community Blood Drive, sponsored by Albany Elementary School, will be held Wednesday, March 26 at the Clinton County Community Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.. The Harlem Wizards vs. Albany Shooting Stars, sponsored by Project Graduation, has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at the CCHS gymnasium. Tickets may be purchased now from any high school senior.

The Clinton County Rec/Park Board is scheduled to hold its regular meeting Thursday, March 27 at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Park. The meeting is open to the public.
