Williams places second in WKU History Contest

Clinton County High School student Jacob Williams completed among the best of more than 600 students from 25 schools in Kentucky and Tennessee who competed in the WKU Department of History’s 41st Annual History Contest on March 21 at Diddle Arena.

Williams, the son of Mike and Teresa Williams of Albany, placed second in the Senior High World History division.

The History Contest consists of objective and essay examinations in Junior High American History, from colonial exploration through 1865; Senior High American History, from 1865 to the present; Junior World History, from ancient times through the Middle Ages; and Senior High World History, from the Renaissance through the Cold War.

First place winners received scholorships and first and second place winners in each category also received engraved plaques, and silver and bronze medals were awarded to the next five percent, respectively. In addition, certificates of achievement will be mailed to students who score in the next highest 10 percent on the objective exam.
