A record 26 teams and 130 bowlers from Wayne, Clinton, Cumberland, and Pickett counties as well as some from as far away as Cullman, AL and Murfreesboro, TN participated in Albany, KY in the 3rd Annual Dowell Wallace Memorial Tournament. The event raised nearly $11,000 for charities including: “Feed The Children” serving children in South Central Kentucky, “The Soup Kitchen” serving Wayne County, “Good Shepherd of Hope Ministries” serving needy in the four county area, “Days of Grace Food Pantry” and “The Esther House” serving Cumberland County.

The tournament winners were the Alley Cats consisting of bowlers from Cumberland, Wayne and Clinton counties. The bowlers were David Cook from Monticello, Jeff Brown from Albany and Jackie Skipworth, Charles Garmon and Truman Morgan from Cumberland County. Second place went to the Screaming Splits including Shane Guy from Simpson County, Corey and Clint Murphy from Burkesville, Chynette Bandy from Byrdstown, TN and Ritchie Burchett from Albany, KY.

High individual bowlers were Charles Garmon with a 665 series from Cumberland County, KY, Kat Clark with a 508 from Albany, KY and Jeff Brown with a 278 game from Albany. The consolation bowler’s prize went to Kendall Radford from Monticello.

Fifteen teams had members from Wayne County, 21 teams had members from Clinton County and seven had members from Cumberland County.

Door prizes were given to over 50 percent of all bowlers. Prizes included NASCAR die cast models signed by drivers like Danica Patrick, Daytona champ Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch, tickets to Beech Bend, numerous tools, and Georgia-Kentucky Football tickets. Other items like Kentucky basketball tickets and beautiful ladies baskets were auctioned.

Special thanks go out to our corporate sponsors of which 14 were Platinum donating at least $300, seven were gold donating at least $200 and 23 Silver sponsors. Special thanks also go to Bulldog Alley and the team at Keystone Foods in Albany who co-hosted the event.
