One of the best known traveling basketball shows in the country will be making a stop in Albany this Saturday night, April 14, when the World Famous Harlem Wizards arrive to play at Clinton County High School.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.

A fundraising show to benefit the 2014 Clinton County High School Project Graduation program, the event was originally slated to be held in February, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

In their appearance here this Saturday night, Wizards will be taking on the Albany Sharp Shooters, a squad that includes several well-known Clinton County figures who will be on the floor during the game.

Among those wearing the Albany Sharp Shooters’ uniform are Bro. Jim England, Bro. David Dorn, Albany City Council member Tonya Thrasher, Clinton County School Board Member Kevin Marcum, Clinton County Sheriff Ricky Riddle, Clinton County Magistrate Mickey Riddle and former Clinton County Lady Bulldog basketball standout player Angela Brown.

Other well-known local players will also be playing for the Albany squad Saturday night.

The Harlem Wizards were formed in 1962 by New York Sports promoter Howie Davis, and continues to put on exhibition games in large and small communities more than a half-century later as a means of helping local organizations with fundrasing efforts.

Normally a two-hour event, the Wizards-Sharp Shooters contest is expected to provide not only a night of high quality, family geared entertainment, but a display of what has been described as “amazing basketball talent” as well.

According to a Wizard’s organization promotional statement “Throughout the game fans will experience a magical display of tricks, coordinated ball handling, fancy passing and aerodynamic athleticism combined with high-energy comedy and audience interaction and participation.

Tickets will be available at the door this Saturday night for $10, with advance ticket sales at $7 available from any high school senior, or at Majors Pizza, State Farm Insurance, the branch location of First and Farmers National Bank and People’s Bank and Trust Company.
