Extension Office to host Targeted Bull

Selection educational session

There will be an educational session on Targeted Bull Selection, Friday, April, 18th from 9 am-10am CST at the Clinton County Extension Office. Dr. Darrh Bullock, UK Extension Beef Specialist, will present via Microsoft Lync.

The presentation will be beneficial to anyone interested in learning how to improve the genetics of their herd through proper bull selection, but will be specifically geared toward understanding EPD requirements for the cattle genetics portion of the upcoming CAIP program.

This meeting will serve as an educational component of the CAIP cost share program. Please call the Clinton Co. Extension Office at 606-387-5404 if you are planning to attend.

CCHS hosting freshman

pre-registration Thursday

Clinton County High School will be hosting a Pre-Registration Information Session for parents and students on Thursday night, April 10, at 6:00 pm in the high school gym. The purpose of the event is to inform next year’s 9th graders of the variety of courses available as they begin their high school careers. All parents and 8th graders are strongly urged to attend.

Diabetes classes offered

The Clinton County Health Department is offering free support group diabetes classes each Tuesday during the month of May called Learning to Control Diabetes-Step by Step! The classes are free but pre-registration is required by calling 387-5711, ext. 1166.

Elder Abuse meeting scheduled

The regional meeting of the Lake Cumberland Area Development District Elder Abuse Council will be on Thursday, April 24 at 9 a.m. at the Lake Cumberland ADD District Conference room in Russell Springs. All public officials, law enforcement officials, and concerned citizens against elder abuse are encouraged to attend and become involved. Applications for Garden Program

being accepted

Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency is currently accepting applications for participation in the Garden Program. Individuals interested in participating may apply at the local Community Action office locate at the Clinton County Community Center beginning April 15. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Participants must provide proof of income for the previous month, Social Security cards, and other pertinent information for all household members. Family Fun Run and 5K Run

Clinton County Healthy Hometown Coalition will sponsor a Family Fun Run and 5K Run For the Roses on Saturday, May 3 starting at Mountain View Park. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a $15 fee. The runs begin at 9 a.m. T-shirts will be awarded to each participant and kids run “free.” To pre-register or for more information about either the family or 5K runs, contact Amanda Cross, Regina Parrigin, Barb McWhorter, Gina Poore or call April Speck, Healthy Hometown Coordinator, at 606-387-2051.

Clinton Alumni Band organizing

We are moving forward with organizing an Alumni Band for Clinton County. We have set up a Facebook page, but just in case you do not have one, we wanted to give everyone a chance at becoming part of this wonderful group. This group will be playing a few events throughout the county as well as being a strong organization to help our local high school band. Please give this number a call, 606-387-4448 and let Mark know when you were in band and what you played. We will keep in touch with you after that. You can also go to our Facebook page and post the same information. Look forward to getting the band back together!

Wizard’s game is April 12

The Harlem Wizards vs. Albany Shooting Stars, sponsored by Project Graduation, has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at the CCHS gymnasium. Tickets may be purchased now from any high school senior.

Color Run and Fitness Walk

On Saturday, April 19, Project Graduation will sponsor a Color Run at Mt. View Park as part of Little League Opening Day. A 2-mile fitness walk/run starts at 2 p.m. with a $12 entry fee. At 2:30 p.m. there will be a half-mile kids run/dash with a $6 entry fee, with a huge color throw at the conclusion. For more information contact Lisa Beard at 387-6099 or 306-3693.

The Clinton County High School Class of 1974 will have a class reunion planning meeting Monday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Lee’s Famous Recipe. All persons interested in a class reunion are please asked to attend.

Clinton County Fiscal Court is scheduled to meet in regular session Thursday, April 17 at 5 p.m. at the courthouse. The meeting is open to the general public.

Lake Cumberland Head Start/Early Head Start is now taking applications for the 2014-15 school year. Senior Citizens and Veteran Tours
