Another year winding down

It’s a little hard to believe, but we’re heading down the home stretch of yet another year of high school sports.

The Lady Bat Dawgs and Bat Dawgs are all that’s left as far as a few regular season games this week, then next week’s post season play as the district tournament gets under way.

Both of those tournaments will be hosted here in Clinton County on Monday and Tuesday of next week, May 19 and 20.

First round action in both tournaments begins Monday, with girls’ softball getting underway with the top seeded Lady Panthers of Cumberland County taking on fourth seeded Metcalfe County at 5:30 p.m., followed by the 7:00 p.m. start of the second seeded Lady Lakers of Russell County taking on our own Lady Dawgs in the third seeded spot.

The championship game will be Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Just to the north of the girls’ softball action, on Emmitt’s Field, the boys’ baseball tourney will see the Lakers of Russell County in the top seeded position facing our own Bulldogs in the fourth seeded spot beginning at 5:30 p.m. The nightcap game pits second seeded Metcalfe County against third seed Cumberland County at 7:30 p. \m.

The baseball championship contest is slated for a 7:15 start on Tuesday night.

Come out next week, enjoy some good action on the diamonds, and help push our Lady Bat Dawgs and Bat Dawgs to victory!
