An accident that occurred Sunday morning, April 17, 2011, took the life of an Albany woman and seriously injured two others.
The fatal collision occured at 9:50 a.m. on U.S. 127, three miles north of Albany near Mountain View Nursery.
Ina Edwards, 79, of Albany, was pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County Coroner Steve Talbott. Edwards was not wearing a seatbelt according to the KentuckyState Police.
Her 1994 Plymouth was struck when Ira Boles Dyer III, 33, of Albany, crossed the center line. Dyer was driving a 1999 Buick southbound on U.S. 127 when the accident occurred.
Edwards had one passenger in her vehicle, Kenneth Bilbrey, of Albany. Bilbery was wearing his seatbelt during the accident and was treated and released at Clinton County Hospital.
Dyer had two passengers inside his vehicle at the time of the accident. Tyler Wright, 8, and Ira Craig Dyer, 7, both of Albany.
According to the Kentucky State Police, Ira Boles Dyer III and Wright were not wearing their seatbelts and were airlifted to the University of Kentucky hospital. Ira Craig Dyer was wearing his seatbelt and was treated and released.
According to a family member, all three victims in the Dyer vehicle had been released by Tuesday and were recouperating at home.
The accident tied up traffic on U.S. 127 for more than two hours Sunday morning, and traffic was re-routed on alternate roadways while the accident was being investigated.
The accident was invesigated by the Kentucky State Police. Several other agencies were also involved in the accident investigation, traffic control and victim transport, including the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Albany Fire Department, Clinton County Emergency Medical Services and AirEvac Lifeteam.
Funeral arrangements for Ina Edwards are scheduled for Thursday, April 21. A complete death notice appears this week on page 14.
