The fall season is still a long way off, but the 2014 political campaign season has already begun somewhat with a second and final season leading up to the November general election, that being with the filing and campaigning of candidates who will be seeking several local non-partisans seats.
During the primary season, the Clinton County News gave all candidates a free, one shot opportunity to get their names and general information about themselves to the voters by publishing profiles of several candidates who were running for office this past election.
Once again, the NEWS will be affording new candidates, or candidates who are in the running but did not have a previous profile published, to do so prior to the fall election in Albany and Clinton County.
Candidates who have previously submitted a profile prior to the primary in May will not be eligible for a second profile article.
Any new candidate filing prior to the August 12 deadline, who will be seeking office in Albany and Clinton County, i.e. all city races, school board seats and judicial seats, or candidates who were unopposed in the primary and did not submit a profile may do so.
Incumbent office holders who have not submitted a profile can also do so.
Candidates can submit their own written profile (subject to editing). Information should be limited in scope to a candidate’s background, current status, a brief summary of why they are seeking a particular office and family information. The articles should be limited to four to six paragraphs, if possible.
The profiles will be published one time, free of charge as a means of introducing ones self to the public prior to the election.
Candidates who would like to take advantage of the offer can submit their profiles at any time, along with a photo (optional)
The Clinton County News will gladly make a photo to be used along with the profile at no charge..
All profiles should be submitted for publication no later than August 31.
