Traffic accident kills former Clinton man

A fatal two-vehicle accident occurred Friday May 30, 2014, on Hwy. 449 near the Cumberland and Clinton County boundary, resulting in the death of a former Clinton County man.

Donnie Thrasher, 57, of Burkesville, formerly of Albany, was pronounced dead at the scene by Cumberland County Coroner Gary White.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, Thrasher was traveling south on Hwy. 449 in a 1990 Geo Prizm when his vehicle hit a 2003 GMC Sierra operated by Eric Carver, 30, of Burkesville, head on.

Thrasher was trapped in his vehicle and was extricated by emergency crews.

Carver was treated and released at Cumberland County Hospital.

The accident is still under investigation.

In addition to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, Emergency Management Director Greg Cary, the Cumberland County Rescue Squad, Cumberland County EMS, and the Burkesville and Marrowbone fire departments assisted on scene.
