Franklin-Simpson County Fair Pageants June 28

The Franklin-Simpson County Fair Pageants will be held in at the Goodnight Auditorium, 203 South Main on Saturday, June 28, 2014. The contest will start at 1:00 p.m. (registration begins at 12:00 p.m.) with the children’s pageants. These groups are open to anyone and will compete as of age the day of the pageant. Categories include girls 0-8 years old and boys 0-3 years old. Each group will have a winner, 1st and 2nd runner up as well as optional winners of Prettiest Hair, Eyes, Smile, Best Dressed and Photogenic. Bring a photo to the contest for judging in Photogenic.

Beginning at 5:30, the State Preliminaries of Little Miss and Master, Preteen, Teen and Miss. Registration is due by June 21st. Entries will be taken at door for all categories, with a $10.00 late fee. Phone or email application week of June 22-June 27 to avoid late fee. The state preliminaries are for Kentucky residents or attending Kentucky schools. The winners will represent Franklin-Simpson County Fair pageants in Louisville Kentucky.

Eating on a Budget classes

Clinton County Extension Office will be hosting an “Eating on a Budget” class on June 24 at 2:00 pm at the Extension Office. Come out for an open discussion on ways to stretch your food dollar and make the most of your budget. For more information, call 387-5404.

Park board regular meeting

The Recreation Park Board will hold its regular meeting Thursday, June 26 at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Park. The meeting is open to the general public. 36-2

CCHS Alumni Band to perform

The Clinton County Alumni Band will be performing this year at the July 4th fireworks show at Mountain View Park. Please make plans to attend practice on Tuesday, June 24 at 6 p.m. at the high school band room.

Hunter Ed Instructor class

The KY Dept. of Fish and Wildlife will sponsor a Hunter Education Instructor class Saturday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Time (8-3 Central) at the Wayne County Sportsman’s Club in Monticello. The instructor class will allow the participants to help teach the KY Dept. of Fish and Wildlife’s hunter education course. It is open to anyone 18 years of age or older who has already completed the hunter education student course (orange card). 5 K Mutt Strutt

Burkesville, Kentucky will host a 4th of July 5 K Mutt Strutt (do not need dog to participate.) Registration at 7 a.m. on Lower River Street at the Pavilion in Veterans Park in Burkesville. The 5K run starts at 8 a.m., walk and dogs welcome, and $15.00 registration is $15.00. First 40 participants will receive a T-shirt and enjoy a free breakfast with local WWII veterans. Committee meeting

The Clinton County Democrat Executive Committee will meet at Mountain View Park on Wednesday, June 18 at 5 p.m.

Twin Lakes Beekeepers to meet

The Twin Lakes Beekeepers Association will meet this Thursday, June 12 at 7 p.m. at the Extension Office. Those interested in beekeeping are welcome to attend.

Bus Stop Cafe’ adds

new stop to route

The Bus Stop Cafe’ has made a change to its schedule which will include dropping the Craft Acres stop and replacing it with a stop at Mountain View Trailer Park. The Mountain View Trailer Park stop will be from 9:05-9:20 a.m. for breakfast and lunch time at 12:25-12:45 p.m.

Fiscal court regular meeting

Clinton County Fiscal Court will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, June 19 at 5 p.m. at the courthouse. The meeting is open to the general public. 35-2

Fire memberships due

Anyone who is not currently receiving city water may want to purchase a fire membership with the City of Albany. If you are already paying fire membership dues, it is time for renewal. Your 2014-15 dues are due by July 1, 2014. The fiscal year runs from July to June 30 of the following year. You may pay them at City Hall or mail them with a self-addressed stamped envelope to: City of Albany, P.O. Box 129, Albany, Kentucky 42602, Attention: Remona Sexton. Industrial Authority meeting

The Clinton County Industrial Development Authority will hold its regular meeting Thursday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at the IDA-Welcome Center. The meeting is open to the general public.

CCHS Class of ‘61 reunion

The CCHS Class of 1961 will have a reunion July 12, 2014 the at South Kentucky RECC building at 715 Snow Road, Albany, Kentucky from 1-5 p.m. It is free. Drinks and snacks will be available. Local people are encouraged to bring snacks to share, same format as last time. No meal. Chairs arranged for conversation. For more information contact Tim Cantrell at 859-361-1486. 34-5p

Book and gift sale

Clinton County Hospital Auxiliary will host a book and gift sale Monday, June 16 from noon until 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday, June 17 from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event will be held in the hospital dining room. 34-2

Lake Cumberland Head Start/Early Head Start pre-enrollment

Lake Cumberland Head Start/Early Head Start is now taking applications for the 2014-15 school year. Head Start is for three and four-year old children and Early Head Start for income-eligible families, including pregnant women, infants and toddlers through age three.
