A fire that broke out shortly before 12:00 noon last Wednesday, June 25, completely destroyed at least one building and caused damage to an adjacent structure.

The Burkesville and Marrowbone Fire Departments responded to the scene of the Larry Stalcup Lumber Company to battle the blaze, which was reportedly started when a ruptured hydraulic hose caused fluid to spray on nearby equipment, resulting in ignition to sawdust in the building.

The business is owned by Larry Stalcup and Michael Stalcup and is located at the bottom of Bear Creek Hill, just west of the Clinton County – Cumberland County boundary on Ky. 90, about eight miles west of Albany.
