South Central Outdoor Expo

The 2014 South Kentucky Outdoor Expo, in cooperation with Jones Chapel United Methodist Church, will be held Saturday, August 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Adair County High School gym in Columbia, Kentucky. There will be 100 booths with children’s activities and a John Deere Gator giveaway. Also see “Bulletproof” Thad Cartwright’s world record velvet buck. Admission is $5 (children 12 and under free). CCHS Girls’ basketball practice

Any girl entering 5th or 6th grade this school year and who would like to play for the Clinton County Middle School basketball team, practice will begin on Monday, July 21 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. If anyone has any questions, please contact Jeff Shelton at 37-5569 or 387-8465.

WMU quarterly meeting

The Association WMU quarterly meeting will be held Tuesday, July 22 at Burkesville First Baptist Church. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Corn, soybean, tobacco field day

A corn, soybean, and tobacco field day will be held Thursday, July 31 at the UK research farm in Princeto, Kentucky. Topics for the field day include: corn populations and yield, sidewall compaction, soybean variety and corn hybrid update, and pest management topics including, managing herbicide resistant weeds, and an update on invasive bugs in Kentucky.

Also included will be tobacco variety development update and conservation tillage in tobacco. Producers interested in attending the field day please call the extension office at 606-387-5404 or email colby.guffey@uky.edu.

CCHS Band Camp scheduled

The Clinton County High School Band will have band camp Monday through Thursday, July 28-August 1, 2014 at the high school. Camp will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue until 11:30 a.m. each day. All band students who will be in grades 9-12 for the upcoming 2014-15 school year are required to attend. This camp is in preparation for the upcoming football season at CCHS. 40-2p

OES #429 Friendship Night

Albany Chapter #429 Order of the Eastern Star will have Friendship Night on Monday, July 21. The potluck meal will be at 6 p.m. with the meeting to follow. All members are invited to attend.

Fiscal Court regular meeting

Clinton County Fiscal Court will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, July 17 at 5 p.m. at the courthouse. The meeting is open to the general public. 39-2

Grain producers meeting at Wayne County Extension Office

Area grain producers are invited to a meeting at the Wayne County Extension Office located at 255 Rolling Hills Blvd. in Monticello, Kentucky on Thursday July 24th at 1:30 p.m. CST. Representatives from Tyson Foods purchasing department will be at the meeting to discuss purchasing grain for the new feed mill located here in Albany.

A grain storage meeting will be held via Microsoft Lync at the Clinton County Extension Office on Tuesday July 29th at 8:30 a.m. as part of a grain series program conducted by the UK Extension Service.

Sam McNeil will present information on factors that should be considered when storing grain. All area grain producers are invited to attend. For more information please contact the Clinton County Extension Office at 606-387-5404.

Early Head Start pre-enrollment

Lake Cumberland Head Start/Early Head Start is now taking applications for the 2014-15 school year. Head Start is for three and four-year old children and Early Head Start for income-eligible families, including pregnant women, infants and toddlers through age three.
