Two people have been indicted in connection with the fire that heavily damanged the Wayne County Attorney’s Office in May. James Rigney and Tasha Brumley were indicted for second degree arson by a Wayne County Grand Jury on Tuesday, August 19.

The fire began in the early morning hours of May 22. Rigney was arrested on Wednesday, June 4, following an investigation by Kentucky State Police arson investigators.

During a preliminary hearing held in Wayne District Court, investigators alleged that the fire was set to cover up a burglary in the county attorney’s office. Investigators indicated that they received information from an informant who had been present during the time of the burglary and fire.

After last week’s session the grand jury returned indictments against both Rigney and Brumley. They were also indicted for burglary third degree, tampering with physicial evidence and theft by unlawful taking under $500.
