As the political campaigning across the landscape–city, county, district, state and even nation, heats up in the final weeks prior to election, it is important for those persons not registered to vote and who may be wishing to vote in November to be aware that next Monday, October 6 is the last day you can register to be eligible to cast a ballot in the upcoming general election.

Unregistered voters wishing to vote this fall should register prior to 4 p.m. October 6 in the County Clerk’s Office.

After the deadline date, voter registration books will be closed until the first Monday (November 10) following the Tuesday, November 4 election.

Absentee voting is already underway with mail-in ballots available to be requested through the county clerk’s office for those individuals with medical or other conditions that will not allow them to get to a voting location on election day. Also, beginning October 22, voters or spouses may make applications to vote by absentee due to medical emergencies and October 28 through November 3, members of the military who learn of active deployment may make an application to vote by absentee ballot.

Finally, for persons who will be out of the county on election day, you may begin voting on the voting machine that will be set up in the County Clerk’s Office on Monday, October 13.
