Rough night for our Dawgs – II

When it rains, it pours, and while the skies weren’t actually releasing any moisture last Friday night, Clinton County’s game plan was surely comparable to a terrible storm.

On a night when nothing seemed to go right for the Dawgs, and it just kept getting worse as the night continued, Clinton County eventually gave up the 46-0 decision at the hands of the visiting Metcalfe County Hornets.

The loss pulled our season record to the .500 mark at 3-3, while Metcalfe left Bulldog Field with it’s second win of the season and now sports a 2-4 mark.

Putting all of that behind us and looking to the future, the Bulldogs will, after a long home stand of five games, be climbing on the bus Friday night for a trip to the eastern Kentucky region of Lynn Camp High School in Knox County just outside of Corbin, Kentucky.

The Dawgs will be hoping to get back onto the winning side when they take the field Friday night at Lynn Camp against the Wildcats for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

Lynn Camp enters Friday night’s contest coming off of 57-6 loss in its last outing against Pineville. The Wildcats were idle this past week.

Congrats to the Golf Lady Dawgs and Golf Dawgs

Congratulations are certainly in order for our two CCHS golf teams, the Lady Golf Dawgs and Golf Dawgs.

Both brought home 16th District Championship wins last week from the tournament at Summer Shade.

Our Golf Dawgs, coached by Nick Irwin again this year, finished the nine-hole tournament with a team total score of 169 to earn the district championship – a “back to back” feat for the boys.

Golf Dawgs Kenny Stinson, who finished with a round of 40, and Jeff Brown, who was just one stroke back with a 41, were both named to the 16th District All Tournament Team.

Our Lady Golf Dawgs, under the leadership of first-year coach Jessica Conner, picked up the district championship title after putting together a team total of 175.

Lady Golf Dawgs Addison Bernard, who carded a round of 39, and Sam Stinson, who finished with a 41, were named to the 16th District All Tournament Team.

This 2014 golf season has now come to an end with the conclusion of regional play this Monday.

Congrats to all of our golfers and to coaches Irwin and Conner on an outstanding season that was fun to cover.
