Marvel Lewis Purnell, 56, Division Rd., Albany, passed away September 5, 2014 in Overton County, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Marvel A. Purnell, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and member of Stony Point Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Helen A. Purnell; his mother, Marlene L. Purnell; a son, Lewis M. Purnell; three sisters, Pamela Witkowsky, N.J.; Wanda Davis and Janis Thurman, both of Houston, TX; special friends, Wayne, Kathy, Miranda, Michaela and Hailey Cole and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were private.
