The Clinton County Bulldogs’ Football team traveled to Lynn Camp this past Friday night. Although the Bulldogs lost the contest 28-22, Clinton County was down early in the second quarter, 22-0, before senior Lucas Gibson ran two punt returns back for touchdowns.

Head Coach Jamie Miller said he is pretty sure no one had ever had two in one game.

“He ran one back for about 90 yards and the other one for about 60,” Miller said. “That kind of swung the momentum our way and we tied the game at halftime.”

Miller said he thought his defense did a great job only allowing Lynn Camp to score six points in the second half, but he said his team still has to do a better job of taking care of the football.

“Anytime you have a turnover you are giving the other team a chance to score,” Miller said. “We had a couple of bad snaps and a interception, but it was better than it had been.”

Clinton County realized they could play with Lynn Camp in the second quarter and started moving the ball on offense.

“I felt like they came out flat,” Miller said. “They have to over come the road trip. After getting 22 points of our own in the second quarter, we came out after halftime and marched down the field to about the 10 yard line and just couldn’t capitalize.”

This week, Clinton County will travel to Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, for it’s eighth game of the season.

Miller said it’s hard to tell what they have because they have won games they probably shouldn’t have and lost games they should have easily won.

After Friday night’s game, Clinton County goes into the bye week and Miller said it will be a warm welcome to the season.

“We are a little banged up right now and that week off will do us a lot of good,” Miller said. “We will still practice, but we won’t do as much hitting in order to give our guys time to heal and get ready for our final two games.

Clinton County’s game Friday night will have a 7 p.m. kick off time.
