Joyce Martin

Candidate for Albany City Council

My name is Joyce Brown Martin. I am a lifelong resident of Clinton County. My husband, Danny Martin, and I live in the Nolan Subdivision in Albany. I am the daughter of the later Victor and Dorothy Brown.

I have three daughters: Angelia Flowers Coleman, Danielle Flowers Hicks, and Ashley Flowers Hardin. Angelia is a nurse, and both Danielle and Ashley are teachers in the Clinton County Public School System.

I have always had a heart for people. As a young girl growing up in the Piney Woods Community of Clinton County, I witnessed neighbors helping neighbors. I saw what it meant to be a part of a tight knit community. Consequently, I developed a strong desire to help others.

As an adult, I became a nurse. I have spent the past 32 years caring for patients of all ages and backgrounds. Twenty-seven of those 32 years were spent with the Lake Cumberland Area Development District, managing nurses and case workers who cared for the elderly, as well as monitoring adult day care centers while working with the state to ensure proper elderly care took place.

I recently retired from nursing, but my heart for helping people remains the same.

I desire to be a voice for the citizens of Albany, just as I was a voice for the patients I was blessed enough to care for those many years.

I would very much appreciate the chance to represent the people of this fine city.

May God bless you all.
