Come out early and support our

Runnin’ Dawgs – and other runners as well

Students in local schools are on fall break this week and with most fall sports schedules winding down, local sports activities are at a slowdown.

Not so with the upcoming Foothills Festival and Saturday morning’s running of the 5K race.

While the race will feature runners of all ages, shapes and sizes, one group of runners who have been participating in the event deserves a little special recognition each year in this space.

Our Clinton County Runnin’ Dawgs always come out in force early on Saturday morning every year to kill two birds with one stone – support the local efforts to produce one of the best run 5K events in the area, and showcase their own skills in front of a local crowd of supporters.

Without a local cross country course to host events on at this point, the squad – both high school and middle school – are on the road throughout the entire season, competing in events hosted by other schools and groups.

By competing in the Foothills 5K each year, they not only get the chance to keep their conditioning up with the Saturday morning race, but they get to enjoy hearing the cheers of local fans who are stationed enjoying the race all along the race route.

Come on out early this year – registration is at 7:00 a.m. with an 8:00 a.m. race start, and let these young runners know we appreciate their efforts in representing Clinton County every time they put on the blue and white Runnin’ Dawg uniforms.

And by the way – have a great 2014 Foothills Festival.
