A Clinton County businessman involved in the oil drilling industry was killed over the weekend in a farm-related accident.

Robert “Rob” Papineau, 59, was killed Saturday evening when a tractor he was operating on a farm on the Ruby Davis Road, overturned on top of him, according to Clinton County Coroner Steve Talbott.

Talbott told the Clinton County News that he was called to the scene of the accident Saturday evening and pronounced Papineau dead at the scene at 7:55 p.m. Saturday night.

The location of the accident was in a field off of the Ruby Davis Road which is located off the Grider Hill Dock Road about 10 miles north of Albany in the Fairland Community.

Talbott said that Papineau had been raking hay that had already been cut, and the area where the tractor overturned was at a steep bank.

Papineau was an owner of Papineau Drilling of Albany and had been co-owner of the Albany Ford auto dealership that opened in the mid 1980’s in the Snow Community of Clinton County. That dealership closed several years ago.

A complete death notice for Robert “Rob” Papineau appears this week on page 8.
