Turnovers … by Alan B. Gibson

The fun starts now-

While this is one of my favorite weeks of the entire year – it’s actually one of my least favorite columns of each year – simply because of the beast we in the business call deadlines.

This week marks the start of a new high school roundball campaign and for the next 16 weeks or so – roughly a third of a calendar year – that’s what will take up the most of this space each week.

That’s the favorite part.

Now, the least favorite part. As I write this, we’re just a handful of hours away from Tuesday night’s first game of the season, yet I won’t get to write about those first games until next week’s column.

What I do know at this point, is that there are a lot of basketball fans in Clinton County who are not only ready for a new season to get underway, but who are at least almost as excited about what lies ahead through the winter months as I am.

We’re somewhat lucky this year, as was mentioned last week in the Big Blue Preview, Clinton County fans have a home-filled slate of games this December during what is normally a busy holiday season anyway, then we hit the road a little more often than we are home.

So – here goes again and remember you read it here first. Clear your schedules, folks, and get out to the gym. Gas up the truck and make sure you’ve got good treads on those tires.

Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs are about to lace ‘em up, and it’s going to be a fun filled year for fans.

Get on board early – you don’t want to miss this!
