Grand jury indicts four last week

The Clinton County Grand Jury convened last Thursday, December 11 with a light session, handing down indictments against four individuals, including two multi-count true bills, in open Circuit Court.

The following indictments were returned last week:

* The alleged offense of flagrant nonsupport against Donnie Wayne Edwards, when on or about October 1, 2013 through December 11, 2014, defendant failed to provide support for his minor child or children, failure to provide support having resulted in an arrearage of $2,400 as of December 11.

* The alleged offenses of obscuring the identify of a machine or other property, marijuana cultivation and receiving stolen property against James L. Smith, when on or about October 21, defendant possessed a 6X10 box trailer from which the local decals and paint had been defaced or removed; cultivated or harvested more that five plants of marijuana with the intent to sell or transfer and received, retained or disposed of a 6X10 box trailer, the moveable property of Albany First Baptist Church, said property having a value of more than $500 but less than $10,000.

* The alleged offenses of marijuana cultivation, obscuring the identity of a machine or other property and receiving stolen property against Roxanne M. Smith, when on or about October 21, defendant cultivated or harvested more than five plants of marijuana with the intent to sell or transfer, received, retained or disposed of a 6X10 box trailer, the moveable property of Albany First Baptist Church, said property having a value of more than $500 but less than $10,000, and possessed the trailer from which the decals and paint had been defaced or removed.

* The alleged offense of theft by unlawful taking or disposition against Tarina R. Whited, when on or about October 16, defendant took or exercised control over one or more controlled substances identified as Oxycodone, Morphine, and Lorazepam, the moveable property of the estate of Jerry Perdue.
