As the final buzzer sounded in the Lady Redhawk Classic at Louisville Seneca, Clinton County pushed its record to a very impressive 10-0, which remains the best record in the 4th Region.
Getting through one half of the holiday tournament season undefeated put the Lady Dawgs into school history as one of the best starts to a season on record.
In 2000-2001, the Lady Dawgs went 9-0 before being defeated by West Carter in the 5/3 Bank Prime Time Classic in Lexington, Ky, 85-84 in overtime.
During the 2003-2004 season, Clinton County also started 9-0 before being defeated by Christian County at Lexington Catholic 70-52.
The 2000-01 team finished the season 27-5 while the 03-04 team finished the season 26-8.
Clinton County’s game against Bardstown pushed the Lady Dawgs beyond what those previous teams accomplished to a perfect 10-0 start to the 2014-15 season, 45-36.
Even though the final score was a nine point difference between the two teams, the ball didn’t bounce in favor of the Lady Dawgs in the early minutes of the game.
Clinton County trailed 7-2 after the first quarter, with Allie Hopper hitting the only field goal for the quarter.
During the second quarter, Clinton County stepped up its game and outscored Bardstown, 16-10 to take a one point lead at the half, 18-17.
As the second half began, Clinton County put up 14 points and held Bardstown to only six for a 32-23 lead. During the final period, the Lady dawgs scored 13 points to match Bardstown’s 13 to grab its 10th win of the season, 45-36.
The Lady Dawgs hit 19 of 27 from the free throw line for 70 percent and hit 13 shots from the floor for the game.

The Clinton County Lady Dawgs picked up win number nine of the season Friday in the Lady Redhawk Classic at Seneca with the 10 point win against Collins, 44-34.
During the first quarter, Clinton County struggled to take control of the game as Collins held a three point lead after the first eight minutes, 11-8.
The Lady Dawgs bounced back in the second quarter and cut Collins’ lead to only one at halftime, 16-15.
During the third quarter, Clinton County took control, mainly with the help of two three pointers by Macy Campbell, as well as one by Shyanne McWhorter. The Lady Dawgs put up 15 third quarter points compared to Collins’ eight points to grab a six point lead, 30-24.
Clinton County continued to maintain the lead during the fourth quarter, scoring 14 points as a team and only allowing Collins to score 10 in the final period.
The Lady Dawgs shot 45.5 percent from the free throw line on five of 11, but hit 15 two point goals and three three pointers to edge Collins by 10.

Clinton County picked up its first win in the Lady Redhawk Classic Thursday night against Estill County, 62-34, bringing the Lady Dawgs’ record to 8-0 on the year.
The Lady Dawgs led by the end of the first quarter, 13-9 and took a commanding lead in the second quarter by putting up 23 points to Estill County’s five, 36-14.
For the rest of the game, Clinton County cruised, outscoring Estill County 14-12 in the third and 12-8 in the fourth quarter for a 62-34 win.
For the game, Clinton County hit 23 of 61 field goals for 37 percent and hit two of five from the three point line for 40 percent.
From the foul line, the Lady Dawgs made 10 of 16 for 62.5 percent.

The Lady Dawgs hosted Cumberland County Tuesday night for its second district game of the season, picking up the seventh win of the season, 59-32.
The game didn’t start as the Lady Dawgs had planned as Clinton County’s shots weren’t falling.
It was well into the first period before either team would score a field goal, even though Clinton County was leading the game, 6-2.
During the first 4:15, Clinton County had hit six free throws and Cumberland County had hit only two.
The first field goal of the game came at the 3:34 when Cumberland County hit a three pointer to cut the lead to one point, 6-5.
The Lady Dawgs went up 8-5, still perfect from the foul line, 8 of 8, but without a field goal as Joelie Hicks drove the lane and was fouled with 3:09 remaining in the quarter.
Clinton County’s first field goal came at the 2:35 mark when Kayla Dicken made a shot to put the Dawgs up by four, 10-6.
Hicks followed up with two field goals too, as Cumberland County hit two more free throws for a 14-8 advantage.
The quarter was finished up by Makenzie Polston hitting three of four from the line for a 17-10 lead.
The second quarter went much like the first as Clinton County continued to struggle from the floor, but maintaining control of the game on defense.
The Dawgs scored only 11 points in the second quarter, while Cumberland County put up nine for a 28-19 halftime lead.
Clinton County’s third quarter defense continued to be the contributing factor to the Lady Dawgs’ success in the game as Cumberland County only put up five points in the period compared to Clinton County’s 11 points.
At the end of the third, the Lady Dawgs led, 39-24.
During the fourth quarter, Clinton County’s offense began to pick up. Clinton County scored the first six points of the quarter to move up 22 points, 46-24, with 5:15 remaining in the game.
Cumberland County would only score six more points for the game while Clinton County added 13 to the board for a 59-32 win and the team’s seventh of the season.

The Lady Dawgs will stay at home after Christmas to host the Best of the Lakes Holiday Classic at Lindle Castle Gymnasium.
Clinton County will take on Metcalfe County Friday at 8 p.m., Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., and West Jessamine on Saturday at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. respectively and Wayne County on Sunday at 4 p.m.
