Clinton County Lady Bulldogs team members hoisted the championship trophy from the Best of the Lakes Holiday Classic Sunday afternoon after a 53-49 win over runner-up Wayne County.

The Lady Dawgs’ tournament win pushed the record to 14-0, the best start ever for a Lady Bulldog basketball team.

The Clinton County Lady Dawgs will be able to ring in the new year as the only undefeated team in the fourth region with its perfect run through the Best of the Lakes Holiday Classic, winning the championship game Sunday afternoon against Wayne County.

The four-game run left the Lady Dawgs with an impressive 14-0 record, already besting a school record of 9-0 set by two teams, 2000-2001 and 2003-2004.

Clinton County began the run through its own tournament with a win against Metcalfe County 62-48, Red Boiling Springs 57-41, West Jessamine 48-35, and a championship win against runner-up Wayne County 53-49.

Players of the game awards were handed out with Clinton County’s Ansley Stalcup picking up two, Kayla Dicken with one and Joelie Hicks named player of the game against Wayne County Sunday.

With the holiday tournaments over for the season, Clinton County will pick up on its regular schedule January 3, as the Lady Dawgs will travel to Russell County. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
